Sandoval named Head Athletic Trainer at LSC

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The Lyndon Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the hiring of Evita Sandoval as its Head Athletic Trainer.

Sandoval is currently an athletic trainer and performance enhancement specialist for Elevation Physical Therapy in Waitsfield, Vt. Her primary focus is providing evaluation of injuries and illnesses, rehabilitative treatment, and care of all acute injuries for the students-athletes of the Green Mountain Valley School.

In addition to her experience at GMVS, Sandoval has also provided athletic training services to student-athletes at Harwood Union High School, Champlain College and Winooski High School. Sandoval has also provided athletic training services to St. Michael’s College, the Vermont Voltage Soccer Club and the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl over the past few years.

A 2007 graduate of Keene State College (N.H.), Sandoval is a Vermont-certified, intermediate level Emergency Medical Technician and had served both the Morristown Rescue Squad and Williston Fire Department in that capacity.

In academic circles, she has made several professional presentations in her career covering the following topics: ACL Prevention in the Skier, Shock and Hemorrhaging, Injury Prevention for the EMT and Pediatric Emergencies for Pre-hospital Professionals.

“We’re very excited to have Evita join our athletic staff,” said Lyndon Director of Athletics Chris Ummer. “She brings a strong background in emergency care to our student-athletes as well as an exceptional level of professionalism and the medical ‘teamwork’ concept. We feel that she’ll make an immediate and dynamic impact on Hornet athletics and our student-athletes.”

Sandoval will begin her athletic training responsibilities at Lyndon on August 1, 2011.
