New LSC Mountain Recreation Management Professor Sean Doll has worked in almost every department of the ski industry; now he has come to teach it.
“I’ve always enjoyed being a mentor when I was working in the field,” says Doll. “I have a higher ability to do that in acedemia. I’m extremely excited to be at LSC.”
Doll has wanted to teach for the past fifteen years.
While Doll worked with retired Professor Cathy DeLeo for around five years as a ski area representative, he heard about her coming retirement and put himself in the position to fill her position.
Doll received his Associate’s degree in history and his Bachelor’s degree in recreation in 1997, and just finished his Master’s program for a degree in higher education.
Through his teaching, Doll says he hopes to bring to LSC “practical real world experience from being in the ski industry for over a decade.”
In addition to his experience in the ski industry, Doll also worked in other areas of outdoor recreation. One of these jobs was at Yellowstone National Park where he entertained the staff by doing things like fly-fishing lessons and backcountry guiding.
