Randolh, Vt. – Today, Vermont State College Chancellor TIm Donovan announced the selection of a new food service vendor for the Vermont State College system. Pending successful negotiation of the final contract terms, Sodexo will begin providing food service for the VSC students in time for the fall semester 2012.
The announcement concludes a successful four-month RFP process that included responses from a number of vendors. VSC Chief FInancial Officer Tom Robbins commented: “We were fortunate to have a number of good respondents, but with the input and participation of a number of voices, for both cost and qualitative reasons, the decision favored SODEXO. The level of student engagement on the review committee was a huge value. I would like to thank everyone involoved.”
The RFP also featured a commitment to local sourcing. “Prioritizing local food is consistent with our values and our mission to work ‘for the benefit of Vermont'” said Chancellor Donovan. “We are happy that Sodexo will be able to provide Vermont students with what will be a farm to plate experience.” Sodexo will be expected to prioritize locally sourced foods, including what is available from Vermont Tech’s on campus farm, from campus gardens at the other colleges and from the regions around each campus.
the contract covers Castleton, Johnson State, Lyndon State, and Vermont Technical College. Because the Community College of Vermont is a non-residential institution, it does not participate in the food service contract.
