Lawson, Warrick take home weekly honors

 

Donna Lawson of the Lyndon women’s basketball program, and Phil Warrick, who competes on the Hornet men’s basketball team, have been cited by the North Atlantic Conference for the performances in the week ending Sunday, Dec. 12.

Lawson was named the conference’s Player of the Week while Warrick took home Rookie of the Week honors for a fourth consecutive week.

A sophomore forward from Irasburg, Vt., Lawson averaged 23 points, 14.3 rebounds and 2.7 steals per contest in a 1-2 week for the Hornets. She collected 17 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots and five steals against St. Joseph’s (Vt.) on Tuesday, before scorching Plymouth State for 34 points, 22 rebounds, one assist and two steals Thursday evening.

Lawson closed out the Fall semester with 18 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and one assist versus New England College Saturday.

 

Warrick, a freshman guard from Springfield, Mass., averaged 19.6 points in a 0-3 week for the Hornets. He collected 59 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals on the week.

After scoring six points with five assists and one steal against St. Joseph’s (Vt.) on Tuesday, he lit up Plymouth State for 21 points, four rebounds and three steals two days later. Warrick closed out his first semester in a Hornet uniform with a 32-point, three-rebound and one-assist effort versus New England College Saturday.
