The 2012 intramural basketball season is finally underway.
Wednesday night started off with a battle between old and new, as a veteran Shred City team was able to utilize team chemistry to defeat a new-look Toon Squad team by the final score of 52-22. A total team effort was put forth by Shred City, as scoring was evenly distributed throughout the roster. Meanwhile, Toon Squad struggled from the floor, but did produce the game’s leading scorer in Jeff Stevens (nine points).
The second game of the night, which was held as an exhibition, ironically ended up as the closest game. King James’ Squad held on to a 67-58 win over Team Moose thanks mostly to intramural newcomer Yessi Garelnabi. Garelnabi scored 34 points, including eight three-pointers in the second half.
Team Jobin and Off Constantly did not disappoint in the finale. Both squads slugged it out in the first half, with Off Constantly taking a slim 35-32 lead heading into break. However, a strong second half, led by Richie Hackett (15 points in game), propelled Off Constantly to a 12-point win, 67-55.
