Ask Hugh Jass
The Critic's Weekly Sex Advice Column
Q: Dear Hugh Jass,
I'm an incoming freshman at Lyndon and curious about how to plan my sexual rendezvous around my roommates schedule. Do you have any advice on how to avoid the awkward walk-in?
From,
Curious freshman
A: First of all, let me say welcome to Lyndon. If you have never had to deal with a roommate during sex, there are some things you should know. Before you start doing the deed, it's important to know your roommates schedule. This will allow you to plan when you are able to have sex or alone time in general. Although it may be awkward, try talking with your roommate about possible codes that you can use so no one walks in on the other during the heat of the moment. If you prefer to non-verbally announce that you're having sex, you can go with the ol' sock on the door.
Some people enjoy having music playing during sex to increase the passion and mood, but remember that it may make it harder to hear if a roommate or friend is going to be entering the room. Sex doesn't always have to happen in your room and you can take place in your boyfriend or girlfriend's room just as easy. Change it up every once and a while because no one wants to be stuck with the roommate who is constantly having sex in the room. Remember to respect your roommate and NEVER have sex while the other is in the room!
I hope you have a great year and stay safe!
Your friend,
Hugh Jass
