Chancellor details financial results
Four employees of Lyndon State College will be let go in an attempt to solve a budget deficit, including three staff members and one faculty member.
According to Chancellor of the Vermont State Colleges Tim Donovan, the decisions over who to let go are based on the impact it will have on the student body.
"Nothing's set yet," said chairman of the Faculty Assembly and professor of mathematics Jim Bozeman. "We have an opportunity now to try to find other solutions so I don't think anything's set in stone yet."
Any employee facing dismissal who is part of a union at LSC may come up with alternative ideas to help budget issues.
"It can change some of the nature of it," said Donovan. "The fact of the matter is we have a certain amount of adjust in personnel costs that we need to achieve and if there's ways that it's dealt with that make it easier or better for the individual we'll do everything we can do to make it work best for the individual."
The Chancellor has decided not to release names of those facing dismissal, saying if the individuals choose to speak out that is their decision to make.
