Future of Stonehenge parking lot presented to SGA

Associate Dean of Student Affairs Jonathan Davis explained the future of the Stonehenge parking lot during this week's Student Government Association meeting.

"We're looking to increase the number of spaces, we're looking to make the spaces wider than they are now," he said, adding there will be a pedestrian walkway, more lights in the parking lot, as well as a place for local transportation to come by.

Another project that will be happening is moving the basketball courts and skate park to a new place to allow the parking lot to expand. In addition, there will be a new stop sign and a small traffic circle to accommodate vehicles.

Davis explained the money for the project came from the state, specifically for renovating the parking lot.

Suzanne Proulx of the Senior Week committee requested and was granted $2,000 to pay for expenses for this year's graduating class. This year, there will be a kickball game with students and faculty, a barbeque, a cruise on Lake Champlain, and a social at President Carol Moore's home.

The Society of Professional Journalists also requested money from the general fund to attend a conference during April break. The group of six students attending will be able to accept awards for News 7, WWLR, and The Critic if any of the groups win. The club was granted $418.

In other news, the Board of Elections will be holding a panel discussion for all potential SGA candidates on Thursday after break at 12:15.
