Vox Populi
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to express some concerns about the student government meeting last night. As a spectator I was really disappointed in some of the decisions that were made. The Lyndon State Student Government Executive Board has really done an amazing job and I didn't understand why some people didn't see that at the meeting last night. I felt that some people weren't thinking about the work that is put into the meetings and outside of meetings and they were thinking more about the amount of money. Believe me $4,000 is a lot of money. Think about all the things that you could do with that. After looking at all of the work that they do, it's not that much money. They have to do five office hour's week, and there is 15 academic weeks, so that's 75 hours a semester, at eight dollars an hour that's around 600 dollars a semester. For a whole year that's around 1200 dollars. In reality they are taking a pay cut.
On another note, it blows my mind that you wouldn't give money to the Financial Controller Julie Austin. When I asked people I know in SGA about her, all I have heard are nice things about how she is always there helping people. I know that she said that she wasn't going to ask for the money last year but she wasn't in SGA then and she didn't know what she was getting herself into. There are things called mistakes, we all make them.
The main reason I wanted to write a letter to the editor was because I was really disappointed in the people who were in SGA, and I know I am going to get more involved and run for an elected representative in the future.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Warren
