Take Action Tour in Boston.
The 2011 Take Action Tour featured bands Texas in July, The Swellers, Polar Bear Club, Silverstein and Bayside, begun its run in Boston on Friday, April 22. The Take Action Tour is sponsored by Hopeless Records, and is a charity tour that is attempting to raise awareness about sex safety. The venue was Paradise Rock Club in Boston, MA and is a very unique venue with a wrap-around balcony that gives a great view if one is not willing to stand in the crowd.
Texas in July opened up the show, unfortunately, I missed most of the set due to arriving late, but their metalcore sound would be liked by fans of Norma Jean and The Chariot. The Swellers played afterwards, and really got the crowd going with their pop-punk sound and energetic set.
Polar Bear Club was the third to play. It was immediately apparent that the crowd was really into them, as they sang along, clapped and danced to their fast paced songs. Polar Bear Club hails from Buffalo, NY. They were the highlight of my night, and the most fun to take pictures of with their constant movement and interactions with the crowd.
Silverstein and Bayside were the co-headers, and both were to play sets of an hour. Silverstein played before Bayside, and included some American hardcore covers in their set, as an acoustic song. It was a broad set list, and the attendees enjoyed it thoroughly.
During the set up for Bayside's set, the crowd was cheering the bands name in anticipation, and the venue erupted when they took the stage. They blazed at record speed through their set, with little crowd banter, packing as many songs as they could into their time slot. It was apparently that they were an extremely professional, polished band that had been in the game for years and knew how to put on a great show.
